Mia (Farrow Rib Cardigan)
Here’s my progress for my first project for 2008!
“Mia” is from the Interweave Knits Winter 2008 magazine. It is called The Farrow Rib Cardigan in the magazine.
Here’s the back of it. The cardigan rib is knit in Farrow Rib….
…and the body is knit with the St.-John’s-Wort stitch. This is a gorgeous stitch that is lacy and nicely textured at the same time.
Here’s the sleeves prior to blocking.
I have really, really enjoyed knitting this cardigan. After I figured out the St.-John’s-Wort pattern, it was so easy to adjust as I shaped the waist and sleeves. I now have to sew the shoulders together and then made the collar and button edging.
I wrote to IK to find out where they got their decorative buttons for this, I don’t know if they’d even have that info on file, but it’s worth a try to ask.
This blog is a year old as of yesterday, and I hope this year proves as fun and enjoyable as 2007 was.
Happy New Year to you all!

I have never felt really successful sewing flat pieces together, and have almost decided to start doing circular knitting exclusively! I think the main problem is that the seams turn out to be too bulky or irregular if I use yarn for sewing. I have had better luck using sewing thread, especially with bulkier yarns. Do you have a favorite technique for joining the pieces together?
Thanks!
