A Home-Made Christmas
This year I’ve tried really hard to get as many home-made gifts done for Christmas and I started earlier, like in the spring of this year, to accomplish this task. The funny thing is I thought I was finished when I completed my friend’s cardigan a couple of weeks ago, but then I got an idea to knit my parents some mitten/figerless gloves. But, the more I thought about it, the more I was uncertain they’d need them. I love them dearly and have such a hard time buying them something for Christmas ’cause they don’t need anything and so I just picked up the phone and asked my Mom if she and Dad had any need for mitten/fingerless gloves and she said she wasn’t sure they’d need anything like that and she paused for a few seconds, then said, “Are you planning on knitting them?”
“Yeah.” I replied (and I’m thinking ‘Come on. You know I’m a compulsive knitter, do actually think I’d buy you something machine knitted?’ Ha,ha).
So she says that just plain gloves would be nice, so I am trying fervently to knit them up. I found a free pattern for opera gloves and only changed the cuffs. I made a hemmed rib cuff and although I only have one completed, it’s soooo warm and cozy! Brown Sheep Luxury Sock yarn in Blue Boy.
For my Dad, I’ll make his gloves from some sport/dk weight yarn, but if I can’t find any that I like, I’ll just use some Knit Picks Essential in my stash.
Well, I gotta get back to knitting!

I am trying to make most of my gifts too, but I am getting late start. If things get too stressful, i will buy some things because I don’t want to make my family crazy!
gloves are always a great gift and apparently they last longer than hand knit socks!
