Finished Bag and More Yarn
Here’s my latest finished object:
Felted Diaper Bag
This is, of course, the lining for the inside of the diaper bag (It’s bears with honey and bees flying all around).
I made this out of Knit Picks Wool of the Andes and some “knobby” acrylic/wool fun yarn for the top of the bag, the outside pockets and handles. I really liked knitting the Knit Picks, it’s soft and a pleasure to work with, and I love how easy it felted. I have to say it’s even better than the Cascade 220. Now, don’t get me wrong, I think Cascade 220 is a great wool yarn, it’s just that the Knit Picks yarn felted so much quicker and I didn’t need to shave it to make it look nicer after felting like the Cascade.
I know 2007 is the “de-stash” year, but this is the first time I’ve really been knowledgable about the good yarns and now there’s all these great recommendations from the various podcasts I listen to (Knit Picks, Knit Views, Socks In The City, Stash and Burn and Lime & Violet) I have to get more, more, more! I finally got onto Lisa Souza’s site and bought 3 skeins of the Marino superwash sock yarn in Orange, What A Melon, and Lime and Violet. Not to mention, yesterday I bought a couple of skeins of Brown Sheep Wildfoote in a gorgeous blue, I think it’s Blue Boy (I plan on making the cablenet socks with this yarn). Oh! And I also bought a skein of Lorna’s Laces verigated sock yarn…shucks, I can’t remember the color name! It started with a G….I think…Gorgeous, well it was gorgeous, but I don’t that was the name…Gelato! That’s it, Gelato, beautiful colors! Anyway, I want to make the monkey socks with this.
Have you seen the pattern for the jigsaw socks? They’re gorgeous! I need to find a yarn that goes with this pattern, though…hmmm…more yarn shopping…well, if I have to
I cast-on tonight for a pair of felted mittens for the dynamic duo (me wittle boys). I figure they’ll go quick ’cause they’re so small and it’s never too early to start those winter projects, right? I still need to make some more socks for Christmas…I better get to knitting
Question: What’s the best sock pattern book you’ve ever read or are reading right now? I’d love your comments!
