Knitting Podcasts
I have just discovered a gold mine of great listening on my iPod~Podcasts! I have only three favorites right now but that may grow into a dozen or more, who knows? First, I want to tell you about Kelli at Unwound . She’s from Burmingham, Alabama and in her podcasts, she features real life stories of knitting, well known knitters/crocheters, voicemail from listeners of Unwound and a selection of great knitting or crocheting books as well. Very informative, and entertaining, I’ve picked up a lot since I first started listening. In fact, I downloaded the latest podcast of hers and then went back and downloaded the others because I was “hooked” by the first episode and I think you will be too when you listen to it.
The other podcast I found which is a very new one from Knitpicks and go to “The Knitting Room”. They are weekly podcasts, updating on Fridays. Kelly Petkun, of Knitpicks is the podcast host and she has tips and tricks of knitting, book reviews, yarn information and they are currently having a “Meet the Knitpicks Staff” theme in their podcasts. This week it’s the V.P. of Knitpicks. I have really enjoyed their products and this podcast is a neat way of getting to know more about the company and the people behind it.
HOW DO I GET A PODCAST?
A podcast is like a radio show that you can download onto your iPod. Go to iTunes and click on podcasts on the menu on the left. You will then see another menu toward the bottom on the left with the different kinds of podcasts. For knitting or crocheting, go to crafts and hobbies and it will pull up all kinds of knitting/crocheting podcasts to choose from. You pick the one you want, subscribe to it (it’s free) and the most recent episode will dowload to your iTunes Library on your computer.
If you don’t own an iPod, podcasts can be listened at your computer as well.
So, sit down with your current knitting or crocheting project, and listen to some podcasts to help you enjoy your fiber craft even more!
Also, a very happy Mother’s Day to all the Moms out there! God bless you!
