An Early Spring?

Punxsotauny Phil On Feb. 2, 2007, it was reported that Phil the famous groundhog of PA, didn’t see a shadow and that we could expect an early spring. Now I’m not one to take advice from a groundhog as to whether (no pun intended) I should put away my winter sweaters and turtlenecks and break out the short-sleeved shirts early, but he just might be onto something.

As my munchkins and I have been out a good deal the last two weeks (due to the beautifully warm weather), I have noticed the geese flying north, the frogs calling all the time now, the masses of black birds are nesting and the robins are out and about and finally, the buds on the trees are coming out. My youngest dd keeps asking me, “Mama, is it spring?” over and over again, and again. I know this could all come to an end briefly, if we get a late cold front come in from the north…but I’m remaining optomistic, I can assure you the folks up north are optomistic too, as a lot of them have several feet of snow they’d like melted away ;)

An early spring or is it a short reprieve from winter’s chill? Here’s one person hoping, hoping for an early spring!
