An Experiment in Fair Isle Socks
I like the design I got from Jessica Tromp’s site
here
She’s got a great amount of varied designs and colors to get you on your way to create your own design.
On other subjects not knitting related:
Have you ever noticed how very different drivers are in the South than say, out West?
Speed. Down here that’s not a real important part of driving. The speed limit is still 55mph on most highways and I’ve noticed that the folks I drive behind prefere 45-50mph. In Nevada, the limit is 70 on most highways and if you’re going 70, people will come up behind you and flash their lights at you and go around like you are creating a serious highway danger by actually doing only the speed limit.
Turn signals. These aren’t real important here, either. Maybe because folks are going slower and figure you can tell they’re turning off the road if they nearly come to a complete stop anywhere along the road that looks like it has a turn-off nearby. Out west, you put that blinking blinker on or you’re gonna get rear-ended! And you get out of the way FAST or people weave crazily around you so they can get that 30 second headstart back up to 90mph.
Cutting into traffic. Here it is taken for granted ’cause folks are just nicer and “let” a person out into traffic. Don’t try this out west, or if you do, make sure you can get out of the way quick ’cause there’s a lot of road rage that gets started by doing this very thing, even in town where it’s only 25-35mph!
Honking. I’ve yet to hear somebody honk at me or any other car, for that matter. I have heard somebody honk at a dog or some deer on the road, but never at another driver. I believe it’s because folks think it’s just a rudeness that doesn’t need to be considered. People are more patient with others down here, and Lord knows when we first moved here I did a few blunders, but didn’t want to cry in frustration and shame because nobody honked wildly at me or gave me rude instructions in sign language like I’ve experienced out west.
I do love living down here, though. The trees, grass, flowers, lakes and the people in general make this a wonderful place to call home.

well, no one uses the signal for changing lanes in denver. I wish they did.
